2026

Journal · Delays and plasticity

Delay selection by spike-timing-dependent plasticity shapes efficient networks for signal transmission

Ghadiri A, Taghavi S, Rezaei H, Aertsen A, Kumar A, Valizadeh A

Journal of Neuroscience, 2026

STDP prunes inter-layer connections with distributed conduction delays and keeps those compatible with propagating activity.

2026

Journal · Rhythms and entrainment

Inhibitory synaptic timescales drive oscillatory regime transitions in recurrent excitatory-inhibitory networks

Kheiri S, Taghavi S, Valizadeh A, Perc M

Physical Review Research 8, 023251 (2026)

Inhibitory synaptic timescales drive transitions between oscillatory regimes in recurrent E–I networks.

2025

Journal · Rhythms and entrainment

Tuning the brain rhythms: How internal coherence influences network entrainment by tACS

Taghavi S, Susi G, Maestú F, Valizadeh A

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals 201, 117421 (2025)

AdEx E/I networks in NEST driven by tACS. The Arnold tongue widens when endogenous synchrony is low.

2025

Thesis · Several themes

Modeling the dynamics of excitatory-inhibitory networks and their response to alternating current stimulation

Taghavi S

PhD thesis in Physics, Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS), Zanjan, 2025

Chapter 4 is the tACS entrainment study. The repository holds the LaTeX source, every figure and the Makefile that builds them.

2024

Abstract · Synchrony on networks

Local phase synchronization and clustering for delayed phase coupled oscillators in k-nearest-neighbors network

Taghavi S, Madadi Asl M, Valizadeh A

Conference abstract, ICTP, 2024

Kuramoto oscillators on a ring, each coupled to its k nearest neighbours with distance-dependent delays. Competing delays break the translational symmetry of the ring, and clusters of synchronised oscillators emerge.

2015

Journal · Astrophysics

Galactic orbital motions of star clusters: static versus semicosmological time-dependent Galactic potentials

Haghi H, Hasani Zonoozi A, Taghavi S

Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society 450, 2812–2821 (2015)

Orbits integrated back 13 Gyr in a static and in a growing Milky Way potential. A static potential overestimates the mass loss and dissolution of globular clusters and underestimates their final sizes.
